Episode Abstract
My appointment as Senior Advisor to the Chancellor and Student Advocate occurred after serving as Provost Fellow, Associate Provost for Student Affairs and Vice Provost. The most enjoyable aspect of my job was helping to lead and execute system-wide initiatives such as the Food Insecurity Task Force, Student Mental Health and Wellness Task Force, Student Peer Advocacy, Housing Insecurity and SNAP Outreach. Also rewarding was resolving issues raised by students and their families, particularly when a policy, procedure, action, or decision reached has potential to impede academic progress.
The opportunity to serve as campus leader at SUNY-Potsdam traces back to my early beginnings. The mission aligns with my ethos – to nurture a community where students grow intellectually, thrive socially, and live purposefully. Many students today would like to see themselves in the world’s picture. Therefore, they need gainful experiences to career paths where they function well outside of their own cultural milieu. We have a responsibility to graduate students that are global society ready.
